About Me

Alice is an over-thinker, dreamer, storyteller and story collector, a queer fiction writer and occasional poet.

she uses storytelling to make sense of the world and hold a mirror up to it.

Born in Medway, in the south-east of the UK in the late ’80s, an only child to a librarian and a consultant engineer, Alice has always had an over-active imagination and asked far too many ‘why’ questions. This resulted in a lot of looking things up in big books and then making up stories about it all. The weird kid who played too much make believe while dragging an encyclopaedia around with her eventually started writing those stories down.

Now she lives in Bristol, in the south-west of the UK, with a husband and a cat, and works part time as a copywriter. She still asks a lot of annoying questions about how things work and why.

Proud weirdo, comics and manga fan, space nerd, expert at falling over her own feet, music fan, avid tea-drinker, coffee mug hoarder and fan of a well-placed swear word.

Inspired by authors such as Terry Pratchett, Ray Bradbury, Angela Carter and David Mitchell, Alice’s work is often confessional and maximalist, peeling back the layers of society to peer at the goings-on beneath. She hopes you won’t hold this against her.
